Step two is to look at Drop 2 & 4 voicings for Emaj7b5. These will be superimposed over the C7 chord to create a C7#5#9 sound. (Emaj7b5 contains the notes E, G#, Bb, D# – these are the 3, #5, b7, #9 of the C7 chord).
