Chord #38 - EbMaj(#11)/Bb

chordaday38

Today's chord is an Eb Lydian voicing using a low register triad and an open string. This voicing could also be used for Eb Lydian b7 as well.

For the musical example, I played a simple arpeggiated 16th note pattern using today's chord and a CMaj(#11) chord using the same fingering concept just three frets lower. To me, this sounds like something Joe Satriani might write behind a melodic rock guitar solo.

In today's recording, joining me is a friend on Dumbek (a middle eastern drum typically used to accompany belly dancing). This is just one example of how we can use an exotic sounding chord like this.

Enjoy!
