Chord #94 - Amin7(add9)

chordaday94
Today's chord of the day is my favorite A minor voicing to strum. Love the open strings!

Do you have a favorite chord that uses a few (or a lot of open strings)? Share it with everyone in the comments section!

Hi Vincent,

That's a great voicing. I love that sound a lot as well!

Chord #41 is a voicing that can go well with the Aadd9 voicing you just mentioned.

Hi Az,
I just spotted you on twitter, and I'm diggin what you do with your blog. I'm trying to do something similar with mine. I hope you'll check it out and leave some comments and thoughts.

As far as Amin chord voicings go, I'm a HUGE fan of getting half steps in my chords...so here's a couple of voicings I've been playing with.

Amin11 (b6)
3
3
5
3
7
5
(all the 3rd frets get barred down with the pointed finger.)

Amin9

4
2
3
3
(I like this one especially because it is rootless...there is no A note in it. But it has the 3, 5, 7, and 9 and it gives such a dark sound because it's so low on the guitar's range.)

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts here Az, I'll be sure to check back from time to time.

All the best,
Jordan

Hi Jordon,

Man, that is an awesome Aeolian voicing! I saw it and immediately recognized how stretchy it was but it turned out more comfortable than I expected. Love the sound, thank you so much for sharing!

If you love low voicings, I wonder if you've checked out any of Tim Miller's recordings. I studied with him for awhile and am a huge fan of his trio work. He often plays low voiced triad in his compositions, if you haven't checked his music out, you might dig it.

Just started checking your site too. Very cool stuff, am going to read it gradually!

Thank you again for dropping, see you online!

Cheers,
Az

Interesting sharing here. I may also want to check out Tim Miller.

Any solo fingerstylists to recommend in the likes of Tommy Emmanuel, Laurence Juber?

I believe there are other great players probaby not as well known on the net, Youtube etc.

I hope to to be exposed to more playing styles. Thanks!

Hi Vincent,

Some of my favorite solo fingerstylists are Thomas Leeb, Alex Kabasser, Don Ross, Alex De Grassi, Pierre Bensusan and Walter Strauss.

Do share if you have other favorite guitarists too - I'd love to know who you would recommend as well.

Thank you!

Best wishes,
Az
